Breeders’ Cup Odds, Entries & Post Positions
The Breeders’ Cup is the annual World Championship of Thoroughbred Horse Racing and is run at different locations each year. The 2022 version will take place at Keeneland Race Course in Central Kentucky, Lexington.
This tournament is the most prestigious event and currently consists of several races held over two days with purses worth millions of dollars and the action will be spread across Saturday, November 4, and Sunday, November 5, 2022. Most of the eclipse awards (yearly awards) are determined by the winners of the BC qualifying races.
A horse can qualify for the races in two ways, first, they can pay the fees and nominate the horse for the race or they can qualify through the Breeders’ Cup Challenge series *Click here. These races are win and you are in” races that guarantee the winners not only a spot in the gate but also $40,000 in travel expenses.
Since the very first race at Hollywood Park in 1984, the BC has established itself as the horse racing season ending World Championship of Thoroughbred Racing.

The event moves to various racetracks throughout the United States, similar to the Super Bowl of the NFL. Santa Anita has hosted a record of 10 times, but Churchill Downs, Belmont Park, and Gulfstream Park have all hosted the Breeders multiple times, and tracks like Arlington Park, Lone Star Park, and Woodbine have hosted as well, Keeneland Race Course hosted the event twice before. This year would mark the third time that the Breeders will be hosted at Keeneland Race Course, cradle of the breeding industry, where the idea of the Breeders’ was conceived.
Every year, the sport of horse racing comes to a fitting finale with the Breeders’ Races. This year-end championship features fourteen all-star horse races cumulatively worth $27 million in purses, showcasing the world’s best in thoroughbred horse racing. Unrivalled in its millions in prize money and its international cast of talent, the prestigious BC races offer nonstop action in horse racing betting and handicapping.
In 2020 at Keeneland, a very difficult but necessary decision was made to proceed without fans. But in 2021 the tournament was eager to welcome fans back to the Horse Racing World Championships in accordance with state and local health and safety guidelines.
