Algiers was listed as at 11/2 in the Jazzsports.ag Breeders’ Cup Mile fixed odds wagering pools.  The race lost Practical Move on Tuesday when that horse suffered a possible cardiac episode and died while leaving the track after training.

Algiers was one of four scratches announced Tuesday by the Breeders’ Cup. Get Smokin was scratched out of the Turf due to an ankle injury. Get Smokin was odds of 30-1 but figured to be part of the early pace of the race.

Also scratched were Ecoro Neo, a 50/1 longshot in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile, and Liam’s Journey, a 60/1 longshot in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf.  Both of these races will be run on Future Stars Friday at Santa Anita where all five races are dedicated to two year olds.
