Idiomatic cemented her class in this year’s Delaware Handicap, prevailing by a head from Classy Edition.

With just six runners for this year’s renewal, it was Classy Edition who set off in front. Setting a quick pace, Florent Geroux on board Idiomatic was cautious not to give up too much ground to his rival and positioned Idiomatic three off the lead.

With others in the race starting to feel the pinch, Geroux made his move on the favorite rounding the home turn.

Traveling much the best, the race looked to be over, but Classy Edition wasn’t going to give up the race without a fight. Battling back on the inside the two were neck and neck until they hit the sixteenth pole.

With neither giving an inch and the line looming, it was Idiomatic who was just able to squeeze out a little extra, taking this year’s Delaware Handicap by a head.

The two were miles clear of the rest of the field with Morning Matcha trailing behind in a distant third.
