Six runners are due to head to the gate at 4.07 pm ET for the Grade 3 2023 Hurricane Bertie Stakes, Bill Mott’s trainee Frank’s Rockette looks to secure back-to-back Grade 3 successes after going gate-to-wire to win the Sugar Swirl Stakes at Gulfstream Park last time by over 12 lengths.

Dubai World Cup Odds

We have to start with Frank’s Rockette who blasted gate to wire last time in the Grade 3 Sugar Swirl Stakes at Gulfstream Park and she is going to be very tough to beat. She comes here off a 60+ day layoff, but trainer Bill Mott has a 21% strike rate with horses coming off the bench and although she was well beaten in the Breeders Cup at Keeneland in November, she is most definitely better than this spot and has an outstanding chance to grab back to back Grade 3 wins.

One of the really interesting runners is Drifaros who is now 5-4-0-0 and those four wins have come in the last four runs. Now taking a step up the class ladder and in against proven graded stakes rivals, she’ll need to take another big step forward. She is one from two here at Gulfstream Park, so the track will be no issue, and she won a minor stakes race last time at Tampa Bay Downs, so deserves a shot at these tougher foes.

Fire On Time takes a class drop after running very well in the Grade 2 Inside Information Stakes at the end of January. She tried to go gate to wire that day and widened by three lengths entering the home stretch but was gunned down late over that seven furlongs. The cutback in distance gives plenty of upside and she could be tough to peg back if getting an easy lead.

Colorful Mischief was second in that same race and she rallied late to take the place spot ahead of Fire On Time and this one might be inconvenienced by the cutback of half a furlong. She has solid graded stakes form, and the class drop is a positive.

Diamond Vow was another to run in the Inside Information Stakes here at Gulfstream Park, but she was well behind the two previously mentioned rivals and has a very tough assignment here.

The final runner to take a look at is R Adios Jersey who was fourth in the above race, and she is another that would need to take a step forward to get involved.

Fire On Time is nicely positioned inside the chalk Frank’s Rockette and looks like trying to go gate to wire here and should have enough to take a piece of this Grade 3 purse.

The strong vote though goes to FRANK’S ROCKETTE who has plenty of back form in graded stakes races. She just gets outclassed in Grade 1 events but this spot is ideal for her, as she showed last time, and she gets a confident vote.

Drifaros has to be respected after four wins on the spin and she can be involved with Colorful Mischief to battle for a slice underneath.
