2023 Norfolk Stakes: Valiant uses the Force

Irish Trainer Adrian Murray saw Valiant Force race to victory in a shock start to Day Three at Royal Ascot with the racehorse priced at a remarkable 150/1 in the 2023 Norfolk Stakes.

Owned by Kia Joorabchian’s Amo Racing, Valiant Force was always up with the pace in the centre of the track under Rossa Ryan and while he had previous experience with two runs, he was unconsidered by punters.

Valiant uses the Force

Royal Ascot has been a graveyard for bettors this week and 150-1 chance Valiant Force simply added to the misery when taking the 2023 Norfolk Stakes, producing a mammoth exacta when beating 66-1 poke Malc, with the hot favourite Elite Status only third.

The longshot picked a fine time to get off the mark, although there has to be an element of fluke about such a result. Valiant Force – trained in Ireland by Adrian Murray – was in front with a furlong and a half to run and kept on gamely under jockey Rossa Ryan to get home by a length and a quarter from Malc, with Elite Status a half-length back in third. US raiders No Nay Mets and American Rascal were never at the races, finishing ninth and 13th of the 14 runners.

Valiant Force, a son of Malibu Moon, also sire of 2013 Kentucky Derby winner Orb, earned a free berth into the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint with this victory.
