From the start, it was Brave Emperor who set the speed and he was very keen in the hands of Luke Morris and was followed into the backstretch by Oviedo who was another that was keen, and the pace was a fast one.

The chalk Drumroll was off a bit slow and Moore had to be content with a mid-pack position while the eventual winner WAIPIRO was put on the back foot as he took a hefty knock from Bolster as they came out of the stalls.

As they made their way out of the backstretch and on the climb to the home stretch it was still the early leaders one and two but as they hit the top of the stretch things changed and first Bolster made a bid for glory before Oviedo took over.

Oviedo immediately shifted violently to his left and a huge gap appeared, and Waipiro did not need a second invitation as he stormed through and quickly widened at the furlong pole.

The race was over in a matter of strides and he went on to win by two and a quarter lengths with Exoplanet closing late for second with a blanket finish for the third spot which went to Bold Act with Torito in the fourth spot.

Ribblesdale Stakes

Grade 2 – Purse $296,500 – 1 mile 3 furlongs 211 yards – Turf – 3-Year-Old Fillies

Warm Heart takes the step up the class ladder to win her first graded stakes contest after winning a Listed Stakes contest last time and confirmed her superiority over old rival Bluestocking.

As the seventeen fillies set off, it was Lumiere Rock on the inside and Sea Of Roses on the outer who were looking to get on the early speed but as they went into the first turn and onto the backstretch it was Ferrari Queen who had moved inside, and she led from the eventual winner WARM HEART.

The chalk Al Asifah was slowly away and had to settle for a mid-pack position as they went down the back-stretch, and she was trapped wide for the whole journey.

As they headed for the far turn it was still Ferrari Queen narrowly from Warm Heart and Sea Of Roses, and with a half mile to the wire, jockey Jim Crowley started his move around foes on the chalk Al Asifah.

The bell sounded as they hit the top of the stretch and as they hit the two-furlong pole, Moore got into the drive position and sent Warm Heart to the front. Al Asifah came wide in the five lane and fleetingly looked a danger but she soon backed out.

Warm Heart widened by two lengths and was not for catching. Lumiere Rock rallied gamely for the second spot, while Bluestocking came from way back to take third right on the wire from Crown Princesse in the fourth spot.

Ribblesdale Stakes Payouts
