Delaware Handicap & Robert G. Dick Memorial Stakes Odds

The upcoming race day in the Delaware Park offers a couple of Graded races, both open to three-year-old and older fillies and mares. At first, they hit the turf track in the Robert G. Dick Memorial Stakes, and afterwards, the quite rich Delaware Handicap will welcome a field of seven participants.

Breeders Cup Odds

This event was won by such stars as Royal Delta and Songbird in the past, and even though this year’s edition didn’t attract a contestant of similar stardom, the competitive field promises exciting action.

Here the 2023 Delaware and Robert G. Dick Memorial Odds!

Robert G. Dick Memorial Stakes

This G3 turf is open to three-year-old and older fillies and mares who will cover the distance of a mile and three furlongs. The purse of $200,000 lured in a very competitive field of ten participants, among which Temple City Terror is a mild favorite.

Trained by Brendan Walsh, the six-year-old mare broke her maiden at the tenth attempt in 2019, then collected two victories in Allowance races, while during the 2021 season, she climbed successfully into Graded contention. The apparent late bloomer scored at the black-type scene at first, upon which she finished third in both the last year’s Robert G. Dick Memorial Stakes and the Glen Falls Stakes.

In the ongoing season, Temple City Terror didn’t fire in an Allowance race, but last time out, she was pointed into a black-type event where the daughter of Temple City bagged a victory thanks to a brilliant finish. Still, she’s about to carry the most significant weight here, which might stop her when faced again with Stand Tall, whom she defeated only by half a length.

The five-year-old mare trained by George Arnold II is considerably lightly raced than the favorite. She recorded her premiere win in 2020, then delivered in an Allowance race, and even though she hasn’t succeeded even at the black-type stage, the daughter of Uncle Mo needs to be respected here.

After all, the second place behind Temple City Terror was a very decent one, and if she is in a similar form on Saturday, she could fully exploit her weight advantage over the preferred mare.

Five-year-old Luck Money is no stranger to Graded events, yet she’s waiting for her premiere triumph there. In 2020, she achieved her only black-type win, upon which she hasn’t added up another triumph, but the Arnaud Delacour bound bay finished second in the last year’s Robert G. Dick Memorial Stakes.

The same place belonged to her also in the G3 Dowager Stakes and the G2 Sheepshead Bay Stakes; still, it’s necessary to stress that last time out, she was only fifth in that black-type race Temple City Terror won.

Luck Money is an alright Graded performer; however, she just doesn’t look like a winner here, which applies to Sister Otoole as well, given she is always there to earn some money but usually too far away to actually threaten the winner. The last to mention is La Lune, with her most recent third place behind Temple City Terror and Stand Tall. She could snatch up the same position here.

Delaware Handicap

The Delaware Handicap is open to three-year-old and older fillies and mares is held at the distance of a mile and two furlongs. The $500,000 G2 dirt race also attracted a somewhat competitive field of seven contestants, and even though such a star as Royal Delta or Songbird doesn’t aim here for the 2022 edition, it could develop into a thrilling matter.

Miss Leslie is the leading chance here despite being quite an exposed four-year-old filly. Trained by Claudio Gonzales, the bay recorded her premiere black-type victory in 2020 and added another in the past season when she competed at the Graded scene with no remarkable result. However, she successfully returned to the black-type level at the end of the year.

In 2022, Miss Leslie added another black-type win and currently has four of them under her belt plus a Listed victory which she acquired in June. In the Obeah Stakes, she prevailed despite carrying the biggest weight she will also have on Saturday; however, she left Battle Bling behind nevertheless.

This Rob Atras trained four-year-old looks like the main rival for the favorite once again as she’s also scored at the black-type scene, and her performances in Listed races are consistently good. She collected three second places there; moreover, she was fourth in the G1 La Troienne Stakes. However, because the difference between carried weights is the same as in that Listed event, Miss Leslie should again better Battle Bing.

Five-year-old Microcap finished fourth in a Listed last time out and needs to step up her game to threaten the mentioned duo, while four-year-old Bees And Honey has to remember her form from 2021 to strike gold here.

The Claude McGaughey III bound filly showed some talent as a three-year-old when concluding the season with an upset in the G3 Comely Stakes. Back then, she delivered a brilliant finish, thanks to which she drew clear from her rivals to score a surprising win; however, she’s been very lacklustre in both 2022 outings as she didn’t place in two starts in the Allowance company.

Regarding the remaining trio, four-year-old Let’s Cruise could be the best of them, given she’ll carry one of the smallest weights and her Allowance victory in May was impressive.

Subsequently, she finished second in a black-type and simply could have a better chance here than the odds suggest. Onyx and Tonal Vision didn’t strike us as interesting in this race but as their weights are favourably, causing an upset isn’t entirely impossible.
