Doubledogdare Stakes Odds, Field & Predictions

Another fantastic weekend of racing lies in store at Keeneland with the action kicking off on Friday with the G3 Doubledogdare Stakes.

A race for fillies and mares aged four and over, a field of eight will head down to post for this year’s renewal. The likely favorite for the contest looks set to be the Brad Cox trained Interstatedaydream. Twice a winner at Graded Stakes level, she brings the best form into the contest following her success in last year’s George E Mitchell Black Eyed Susan Stakes.

Doubledogdare Stakes

Grade 3, 1 mile 1/16, Dirt, open to fillies and mares aged four and over. Total prize pool: $300,000

Despite a field of eight competing for this year’s Doubledogdare Stakes, the class horse of the race looks to be Interstatedaydream. A winner of four of her eight career starts, she returned from a seven-month layoff to finish a respectable third in the Grade 2 Azeri Stakes. Only the highly talented pair of Secret Oath and Clairiere beat her that day and she looks well placed to land the third Graded Stakes race of her career.

Looking to give the favorite something to think about is the Todd Pletcher trained Green Up. A lightly raced horse, she has won three of her career starts with her only defeat coming last time out in the Grade 1 Cotillion Stakes.

The favorite for that contest, she flattered to deceive and was only able to finish fourth. Whilst she has never tasted graded success, she is clearly highly thought of and could be one of the best value angles of the race.

Rounding out the top three in the betting looks set to be Bret Calhoun trained Hidden Connection

Like Green Up, she will be looking to land a first graded race, but her connections will be hoping she will be able to build on her second-place finish in the Grade 3 Houston Ladies Classic Stakes. By no means a prolific winner, she has only won two of her nine career starts but has shown plenty in big races.

A fourth-place finish in the 2021 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies shows that she has class. Although the market suggests that she will need to produce something to special to overhaul the top two in the market, she could certainly be capable of landing the spoils here.

One of the most appealing longer shot bets for the race looks to be the Riley Mott trained Traverse. A winner of four of her last five starts, this Friday’s Doubledogdare Stakes will be her first crack at a race of this level. Clearly thriving, she could be a huge danger to all in the field.

Moon Swag, Shotgun Hottie, Frost Point and Music Street will all be looking to land the biggest races of their careers and will start the race as the four outsiders of the field.

Odds & Betting Pick

Despite this year’s Doubledogdarestakes field containing an array of talented horses, the horse they will all need to beat is Interstatedaydream. Her level of form is simply better than her opponents and it looks like she should take all of the beating.
