International Turf Cup Odds, Field & Racing Picks

An intriguing race awaits in this year’s International Turf Cup, where three horses are set to lead the betting. After a series of solid displays this season, both Wolfie’s Dynaghost and Smokin’ T will be searching for a first graded success, but the most interesting horse looks to be Cazadero. The only graded winner in the field after wins in the 2022 Nearctic Stakes and 2020 Bashford Manor Stakes, he could be the best value option in the contest.

International Turf Cup

Grade 3, 1 mile, turf, open to horses aged three and over. Total prize pool: $200,000

This season’s renewal of the International Turf Cup looks wide open, with all nine entered horses hoping to head into their autumn campaigns in style.

Set to steal the headlines will be Wolfie’s Dynaghost and Smokin’ T.

Wolfie’s Dynaghost heads into the race off the back of a victory in Allowance company but prior to that had tasted success in the 2023 Kentucky Cup Classic Stakes and had placed fifth in the 2023 Grade 2 Eclipse Stakes. A horse that looks to dominate from off the front, he has won 50% of his career starts, but is yet to taste success at this level.

Smokin’ T has had six starts this season but has only been inside the winner’s circle once. His victory came in the 2023 Lure Stakes, and he backed up that performance with a solid third place finish in the 2023 Mint Millions Stakes.

One horse who has managed to win races at this grade is Cazadero.

Now five, this will be his fourth start for trainer David Jacobson. He is yet to win for his new barn with his last victory coming back in the 2022 Nearctic Stakes. That win was at a higher level, but he hasn’t been able to replicate that effort for some time. If he can piece it together, he could be a danger to all in the field.

Jacobson’s second string is Business Model. Relatively untested at this level, he heads into the race off the back of a taking performance in Allowance company but looks to have form to find.

Doppelganger arrives in flying form. A winner of four of his last six starts, he found life in the 2023 Grade 2 Charles Town Classic Stakes tough, but prior to that was a good winner of the Battery Park Stakes.

Like several others He’spuregold arrives as a Stakes winner when winning the 2023 Irish War Cry Handicap. He is certainly capable of another bold showing.

Highestdistinction has mostly raced at Allowance level but won his first Stakes race when victorious in the 2023 Oceanport Stakes. He is another who can’t be discounted.

Rounding out the field are Tee At One and King Vega. Of the two it could be worth siding with King Vega. He has competed in some hot races in Britain and has tasted success three times since moving to America.

International Turf Cup Odds & Racing Betting Pick

A brilliant race lies in prospect in this year’s International Turf Cup and Smokin’ T will be hoping to build on his already successful campaign. A Stakes winner, his third in the Mint Millions is another good piece of form and he looks bound to play a major part in proceedings here.
