National Museum Hall of Fame Stakes Odds & Picks

Nine horses will head down to post for the rescheduled National Museum Hall of Fame Stakes at Saratoga. With the original race scrapped due to heavy rainfall, it will be the Cherie DeVaux trained More Than Looks who will be hoping to land his third race in succession and second graded victory of an already profitable 2023.

National Museum Hall of Fame Stakes

Grade 2, 1 mile, turf, open to three-year-old horses. Total prize pool: $500,000

A winner of three of his last four starts, More Than Looks was installed as the race favorite for the initial contest a week ago. A week on, and there is nothing to suggest that should change.

Clearly thriving, he has got better with each run and his victory in the 2023 Manila Stakes last time out was a clear signal as to how special he could be. One who likes to sit off the pace, look for him to be burning up the home stretch late.

When it comes to US turf racing any Chad Brown horse must be respected. He has three runners entered in this contest with his best chance looking to be Carl Spackler.

This will be just his fourth start and there will be hopes that his eighth-place finish in the 2023 American Turf Stakes last time out was just a blip. If he can recapture the form that saw him win his maiden in decisive fashion, he can be a major player here.

The two other Brown runners are Appraise and Mischievous Angel. Of the two it looks like Appraise could be the one to side with.

This will be just his second start of 2023, but he kicked off his season with a gutsy performance back in Allowance company. Likely to jump to the front, he will be one of the speed angles of the race.

Arguably Boasting the best form of the race is the Claude McGaughey trained General Jim. His connections will be hoping that he can repeat the heroics of his narrow victory in the 2023 Pat Day Mile Stakes.

Over the last few seasons Charlie Appleby has successfully raided some of America’s biggest prizes and he will be eyeing up another graded success with his runner Mysterious Night. A Group winner back in Europe, he marked his American debut with a dominant success in the 2022 Pattison Summer Stakes. His two runs this year have been disappointing but if he can bounce back to form, he could be a danger to all in the field.

Bat Flip has won his last two starts which included a victory in the 2022 Central Park Stakes. Another contender, he does have fitness to prove as this will be his first start of 2023.

Rounding out the field are Ocean Vision and Behind Enemy Lines.

Behind Enemy Lines could be a player at a price following his strong second place in the 2023 Penn Mile.

2023 National Museum Hall of Fame Stakes Betting Odds

An exciting contest awaits and a whole host of horses are in with a chance of victory. More Than Looks could be hard to beat, but at a price Bat Flip and Mysterious Night could be ones to keep an eye on.
