This race is the most lucrative event in horse racing, with a purse of $20 million, of which $12 million goes to the winner. The Saudi Cup usually takes place four weeks after the $3 million Pegasus World Cup at Gulfstream Park, and four weeks before the $12 million Dubai World Cup at Meydan Racecourse, this time lapse is for horses that are going to compete in those two races mentioned before, their connections will have time to ship the horse and some time to prepare.

Saudi Cup Odds 1st Edition
The first edition of the race took place on February 29, 2020. It was won by an American horse, Maximum Security, with jockey Luis Saez in the irons. Two months later the event took place the Jockey Club of Saudi Arabia announced that first-place purse has been held due to an investigation, nowadays there has been no resolution on the purse matter.
