147 Preakness Stakes Preview
The field for the 147th running of the Preakness Stakes is set and Kentucky Derby runner-up Epicenter is the prohibitive favorite at 10/11 with filly Secret Oath at 3/1. Early Voting, who skipped the Derby is 7/2 while Simplification who finished 4th in the Derby is 8/1. The rest of the field includes recent allowance race winners Creative Minister at 12/1 and Ar-mag-knock is 15/1. Shippy-long-stocking, 3rd place in the Wood is at 27/1, Happy Jack is 33/1, and maiden winner and late entrant Fen-wick is 40/1.
The race will take place at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore on Saturday 21st at 6:50 Eastern Daylight time on NBC.
Epicenter has been heavily bet after the defections of Zandon and Derby winner Rich Strike. Our pick this week is Epicenter with Secret Oath taking second.
Trainer D Wayne Lucas feels the tight turns will actually favor the filly and Epicenter seems to be the class of his crop.
