National Treasure goes wire to wire in the 148th Preakness
The 148th running of the Preakness was a wire to wire victory for National Treasure who went off at 5/2 and gave jockey John Velasquez his first win in the race. Blazing Sevens came home second and Kentucky Derby Champion Mage was third. For trainer Bob Baffert it was his 8th Preakness win
Taxed wins the G1 Black Eyed Susan
The Black-Eyed Susan was expected to confirm Faiza as the top three-year-old filly but instead, it was Taxed at 11/1 who pulled away for a nearly four-length victory under Rafael Bejarano and trainer Randy Morse. Hoosier Philly was second well clear of 3/5 favorite Faiza who finished third.
Arabian Lion takes the 2023 Sir Barton Stakes
In other races, Arabian Lion was a wire to wire winner in the Sir Barton for the Baffert and Velasquez team and is headed to New Your for the Belmont Stakes.
Modern Games rallied late to take the G1 Lockinge Stakes
Multiple Breeder Cup winner Modern Games rallied late to take the one-mile G1 Lockinge Stakes under William Buick for trainer Charlie Appleby, Despite being the only Grade 1 winner in the field Modern Games went off at 3/1.
Liberty Island takes the 2023 Yushun Himba (Japanese Oaks)
Liberty Island captured the second leg of the Japanese filly triple crown by defeating 17 rivals by six lengths. The victory was her fourth in five starts.
