HRT HIGHLIGHTS #9: Rebel Stakes and Saudi Cup

In HRT we bring the latest information about horse racing. Therefore, here is a video that summarizes the most important events that happened during the weekend. Let’s take a look at what happened in Arkansas and Saudi in our HRT HIGHLIGHTS #9.

Rebel Stakes

The 75/1 shot Un Ojo took advantage of a rainy day and gave us a surprise. The Longshot under Ramon Vasquez come up the rail and took the 50 derby points and a spot in the Kentucky Derby.

The disappointment of the day was Newgrange, which was sent off as the 4/5 favorite but finished 6th.

Saudi Cup

The Saudi Cup featured many of the stars of racing, including newly crowned 2021 Derby winner Mandaloun and 2021 Saudi Cup winner Mishriff.

However, the first place was for Emblem Road, which was 99/1. Emblem Road beat Bob Baffert-trained Country Grammar by a half-length and beat out the US horse and Midnight Bourbon.

What’s next in the Road to the Kentucky Derby?

This week we have four Derby Prep races. Gulfstream Park will host the Fountain of Youth, Aqueduct will feature the Gotham Stakes and at Santa Anita will be the San Felipe. Each of these races awards 50 points to the winner, so they basically guarantee a spot in the Kentucky Derby.

Finally, Turfway Park will showcase the John Battaglia Memorial Stakes which is worth 10 points to the winner.
