Risen Star Stakes
At the Risen Star, Epicenter earned him 50 ‘Road’ points, which assures him a place in the gate at Churchill Downs on May 7.
Epicenter turned this competitive contest into a one-horse parade, grabbing the lead from the gate and setting a steady pace. Smile Happy and Zandon closed late to take 2nd and 3rd respectively.
Epicenter is now the 8/1 favorite in the Derby future Book.
Hyacinth Stakes
In Tokyo, the third part of the Japanese Road to the Kentucky Derby took place. This race is called the Hyacinth Stakes and it became quite successful for the colt Combustion. The horse piloted by Yuga Kawada earned 30 points for the Derby and first place of the race. Grado Barrows came in second and Sea Vixen held third place.
This week we have the Grade 2 Rebel stakes from Oak – lawn Park where Newgrange is the favorite. Also, The 20 Million dollar Saudi Cup will be run this Saturday.
