The richest horse race in the world; the $ 20 million Saudi Cup; was supposed to be a battle between U.S imports Charlatan and Knicks Go and that is how it looked until the stretch when Mishriff kept gathering momentum and went by Charlatan to win by a length

The upset win by the 4-year old colt in only his second race on dirt with the first time occurring a year ago in last year’s Saudi Derby Cup over the same surface at the King Abdulaziz Racecourse in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. His other seven races have been on the turf in Britain and France. It was his fifth win in nine starts; and the $10-million share of the purse puts him over $11 million in lifetime earnings.

A Saudi official said this week that a determination should be made in about six weeks.
