In HRT we bring the latest information about horse racing. Therefore, here is a video that summarizes the most important events that happened during the weekend. In this episode, we will talk about what happened at the Louisiana Derby and the UAE Derby. Also, we will review the last Bob Baffert movement. Here is our HRT HIGHLIGHTS #13.
It was a big weekend for the team of Steve Asmussen and Joel Rosario as they took both the Fair Ground Oaks and the Louisiana Derby.
In the Oaks, Echo Zulu broke on top and went at a moderate pace but started to weaken down the stretch and barely held off Hidden Connection for the win. Favor finished third and Turnerloose was 4th.
In the Louisiana Derby, Epicenter dominated the field and set a track record as he cruised to an easy victory by 2 and a half lengths over Zozos with Pioneer of Medina farther back in third.
In Dubai, Crown Pride made a sweeping outside move to run down Summer is Tomorrow and take the UAE Derby.
Pinehurst tired badly and was pulled up by jockey Flavien Prat. Both of the top two finishers are looking to come to the Derby.
Bob Baffert’s movement
The Road to the Kentucky Derby news this week centered on Bob Baffert starting to move his 3-year-old colts to other barns highlighted by Messier going to the barn of Tim Yakteen. This will allow the horses to compete in the Derby.
Baffert is looking at not only the Derby prohibition but also a 90-day suspension which will force him to remove all horses from his care and move them to other trainers.
Finally, in the Kentucky Derby Future Book odds are brought to you by Jazzsports. Epicenter is a solid favorite at 5/1 after his victory, Japan’s Crown Pride is now at 20/1 and Slow Down Andy is 30/1.
