hrt highlights #22 belmont stakes odds and preview

In HRT we bring the latest information about horse racing. Here is a video that summarizes the most important events that will happen during the weekend. Here are our HRT HIGHLIGHTS #23.

This week’s look at the Triple Crown will focus on the horses that will compete in the Belmont Stakes this Saturday.

D Wayne Lucas trainee Ethereal Road will miss the Belmont due to a quarter crack and will now point toward the Ohio Derby.

Instead of going to Belmont Park, Howling Time will remain in Louisville and run in a race at Churchill Downs on Saturday, according to trainer Dale Romans.

With the two defections and what looks like a field of eight, Mo Donegal is now at 3/2 to win the 1.5-mile race.

HRT HIGHLIGHTS #23

Peter Pan winner We the People sits at 3/1 with runner-up Golden Glider at 25/1.  Derby winner Rich Strike is at 9/2

HRT HIGHLIGHTS #23: Belmont Stakes Odds

The horse that finished third in the Preakness Creative Minister sits at 5/1 and Kentucky Oaks runner-up Nest is 8/1.

Barber Road who finished 6th at Churchill is 17/2 and the 5th place finisher in the Preakness is 18/1.

Interesting Trivia about the Belmont field, only Rich Strike and Nest have won G1 races.  Mo Donegal has a pair of G2 wins and We the People has a G3 victory on his resume.

We spoke to our partners at JazzSports and they report that Mo Donegal was getting the most money this past week along with Rich Strike.  Our pick here is Nest, the daughter of 2007 Preakness and BC Classic winner Curlin has won on the sandy Belmont surface and is bred to get the distance for trainer Todd Pletcher.
